Asia Cup Super 4 highlights between India and Pakistan:

The India vs. Pakistan game was scheduled for a reserved day, but Monday’s weather outlook is not very encouraging. Unless there is another delay caused by rain, the match is currently tied 50-50 after overs.

Rain forced India to postpone their first Asia Cup match against Pakistan on September 2 after the first innings. Rain also affected the play against Nepal, but because Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill had chased down the revised aim, a result was still attainable.

On Sunday, Babar Azam chose to field after winning the toss. The Pakistani fast bowlers were troubled by Shubman Gill’s superb innings before Rohit Sharma’s six against Shaheen Shah Afridi. The wicket was flat.

India vs. Pakistan

Gill in particular was harsh on Afridi after the latter had earlier dropped him from the squad. India got off to a solid start when Gill, who has excelled in one-day matches this year, took on Afridi. While dealing with Nasim Shah, Rohit Sharma did a good job of maintaining his composure.

After three costly overs, Shubman Gill hit some beautiful strokes against Shaheen Shah Afridi that were taken out of the assault. By the time Faheem Ashraf and Harris Rauf arrived, the flow of runs had already slowed down, but India’s opening batters had completed their task.

Babar Azam used defensive field placements, and Shubman Gill took use of some unusual strategies. Rohit Sharma quickly developed as his own player and applied pressure to the best fast bowlers in Pakistan.

Shadab Khan, Pakistan’s lone spinner, had a difficult day on Sunday. He was able to end Rohit Sharma’s 121-run opening stand, though, by taking his wicket for 56 runs off 49 balls. Babar Azam brought back Shaheen Shah Afridi for an assault when Virat Kohli arrived, and he promptly dismissed Gill, who scored 58 runs off 52 balls.

After the Indian openers were dismissed in quick succession, attention turned to Virat Kohli (8 runs off 16 balls) and KL Rahul (17 runs off 28 balls). They exhibited caution and a reluctance to take unwarranted chances, which allowed Pakistan to reenter the contest. As was to be predicted, rain stopped play in several areas of Colombo, and the players returned to their locker rooms to wait for the game to resume.

Reserve Day Action?

Some portions of the pitch were damaged by water in spite of the ground staff’s best efforts to dry it out. The damaged areas were twice reviewed by the umpires Chris Gaffney and Ruchira Palliyaguru, and a decision was reached to start the Reserve Day if rain started to fall again at 8:30 o’clock.

As a result, India, who played against Sri Lanka on September 10 (Sunday), will play them again on September 11 (Monday) and September 12 (Tuesday), respectively, in the Super 4. With a strong probability of rain from noon until evening, the weather forecast for Monday is not particularly promising.
